Top 5 reasons why the Jazz will earn a championship in the next 7 years…

  1. Rudy Gobert- Do I really need to go in to details on this one? This guy is the definition of a defensive basketball player. This guy is a back to back (and soon to be another back) defensive player of the year. Adding this guy alone has turned the Jazz from a mediocre team, to being a serious contender. Some have even joked that his defense shut down the whole NBA (corona-Virus).
  2. Quin Snyder- After the retirement of Jerry Sloan, the Jazz were in shambles. This team that was going to the playoffs consistently, was now struggling to win 30 games in a season. Then came Snyder. This guy came in with a chip on his shoulder and a belief that true defense is what will win championships. Because of Snyder, the Jazz once again are major contenders not only in the west, but the whole NBA. I believe that Snyder, because of his hardnose coaching philosophies, will bring a championship to the Jazz in the next 7 years.
  3. Donovan Mitchell- This guy is unbelievable. Mitchell currently is one of a handful of players that have never averaged below 20 PPG in a single season. That is incredibly hard to do. Mitchell has also single handedly set a fire to Jazz nation. He has made the fans believe that the Jazz can do great things. Because of Mitchell and who he is, the Jazz will win a championship. Oh ya…. This guys scoring ability will definitely help the cause as well.
  4. The Miller Family- If there is anyone who is all in with this organization, it’s the Miller family. This family has turned the Jazz in to not only a good, but great franchise. The Millers have given the Jazz all the resources to be great, and because of their love of the game, they will be a major impact on the Jazz winning a championship in the next 7 years.
  5. Denver Nuggets- Here me out on this one… I hate the nuggets just as much as any other Jazz fan, but this team is our bread and butter. Because of the Jazz front office being on their toes, we have managed to steal not only Rudy Gobert from the Nuggets, but Donovan Mitchell as well. The two corner stones of this franchise were stolen from the very team that wants to destroy us. Keep an eye on the Jazz organization and the upcoming Drafts… The Jazz (mark my words) will draft one more star that will be the last piece of the puzzle that will bring a championship to the state of Utah.

The Jazz are the real deal. This is only 5 of about a million reasons why the Jazz will win a championship. Keep believing in the Jazz! This team will bring a championship in the next 7 years. This is a bold prediction, but watch this team make it happen.

How I became a fan of the BYU Cougars…

With this unprecedented downtime in sports, I thought I would switch up my blog a bit and do a narrative post on how I became a fan of the BYU Cougars. As you read this post, I would love to hear your stories, so feel free to comment and share.

My story began when I was very young. I remember going to games with my dad, at these games, my main objective was to get a Cougar dog and spend time with my pops. The games were secondary. My parents being the righteous people they are, taught me to love the Cougs, and to always cheer for them. So I followed blindly until I was about 7 or 8.

Around this time, a football player named John Beck joined the BYU football program. This player could do it all. He could hit every receiver, he could make every throw, and most importantly; he knew how to win. John Beck to this day is still considered one of the greatest QB’s to ever play at BYU.

John Beck made the sport exciting. I couldn’t wait until Game time! My life began to be consumed by BYU, and it was finally my choice to do so. Everyday I would wake up, go to school, and come back home and play football. When I played, I was always “John Beck”. My friends and I would practice the best plays from the week before, and we would love every bit of it.

This was the beginning of becoming the greatest BYU fan of all time. My life will be forever changed because of John Beck. Even after his college days were over, I found myself finding out all the inside information concerning the Cougars. I wanted to be the first to know, and I found the tools to be able to do so. Even to this day, my schedule revolves around loving the Cougars.

I don’t think my story is unique. I think that every great sports fan has a story on why they are who they are today. Even with all the different stories out there, one thing remains a constant… and that is the love of the team. As top fans, it is our duty to share our story, and also help others to build their own stories. There can never be too many fans. In fact, I think that most of us can agree that our team doesn’t have enough true fans as it is.

I want to hear your story. Its time to share fellow Cougars. Comment below, and also share your story on your social media page. It’s time to make the world a little more blue.

What will happen with sports now that everything is canceled or delayed?

Possibly the biggest news of the year is the cancellation or delay of all major sports. So where does this leave sports fans? I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that life is sad right now. Before the announcements, most people thought that sports would still be played, just not with a live audience. Now, not only are people being quarantined, but we are now being quarantined without the option of watching sports to pass the time by.

For the NBA, the season is pretty much over for the time being. The NBA has announced that the season is suspended until further notice (pretty much because of the Jazz). This may be good news for the Jazz who have resumed play after the All Start Break with a less than stellar record. Some might argue that the Jazz were just picking up speed. This may be true, but now the Jazz have a great opportunity to get better mentally, physically, and emotionally, whether they wanted to or not… This may be great news for the Jazz in the long run.

For the New York Yankees, the delay of the season also may not be a bad thing. If the season started when they were supposed to, we would be without Judge, Stanton, and Paxton. Now, because of the delay, we could be starting the season with all the players ready to perform. Another cool side affect is that we now might have the opportunity to see a world series played in the dead of winter. This would truly make this season very memorable.

For the BYU cougars, it is hard to see a positive. BYU Basketball was having the best season they have had in years. Now that the season has been canceled, it seems like all the hard work was for nothing. For other sports such as baseball, they are giving the players an extra year of eligibility. But for basketball? They are sending off the seniors with a pit in their stomach, and an extra measure of feeling incomplete. The NCAA can do better for these players.

As a fan it can be difficult to see a positive out of this otherwise miserable news. For most fans, they will now be stuck at home watching the Office for the hundredth time, and just dreaming of when sports will be back on. But maybe this isn’t such a bad thing for us hardcore fans? There is a saying that says that “absence, makes the heart grow fonder”, or something like that. One potential affect of this is that fans will be rejuvenated, and more hardcore than ever before? Another effect is that we now have the opportunity spend more time with family and friends. Get out and play the sports you can. Take this opportunity and make the best of it. This truly isn’t all bad. I’m sure that if you take the time, you will be able to see many more positives.

Don’t despair and remember, Sports will be back sooner than we think.

Injury Woes…

Here we are still over two weeks from opening day, and once again, the injuries are piling up. It seemed like after the Yankees fired the old staff and hired this new staff, the injury woes would be just a bad memory. Unfortunately, it’s looking like another year of filling, and refilling positions. So what can the Yankees do?

The first thing the Yankees (and Yankee fans) should do is not panic. Yes Judge, Hicks, Stanton, Severino, and possibly Sanchez are all injured. With these injuries, also comes time to recover as well. But guess what? We are still in spring training! The MLB season consist of over 150 games that caps off in the World Series in October. This is a lot of baseball left to play! The Yankees need to spend time now, to create time later. Let the players recover!

One mistake the Yankees made last season was rushing the players back. Prime example is Hicks. Hicks spent majority of the 2019 season on the injured reserve. Why? Hicks never fully recovered from his injury. He came back in June, and then injured himself again. He then came back end of July/beginning of August and all seemed well. What happened next? He got injured again. Then this year, he is once again… out with another injury.

If the Yankees would spend time with each injury and make sure the player is fully recovered before sending them to play, these long-term injuries will be cut significantly. Luckily, the Yankee medical staff still has time to turn things around. As a Yankee fan, I will be the first to say that I am frustrated with all the injuries and just want to see my favorite players play. It sucks to watch a 9-inning baseball game and never see your player perform. But at the same time, I would also be the first to raise my hand in agreeance that the sacrifice at the beginning of the year to make sure the players recover correctly, is so worth it.

I don’t believe that I am alone in this idea either. I would bet that most, if not all Yankee fans would agree that the long-term success of the team is the most important thing. But if baseball teaches us one thing, its that patience is the hardest lesson to learn. But on the same note, the Yankees are proving from the last couple of seasons that patience is needed for the long-term success of the team.

Don’t freak out. As much as you can, keep from calling for the heads of the medical staff, and trust in the process. If the Yankees are going to have injuries, thank goodness its at the beginning of the season! Enjoy the opportunity to watch the stars of tomorrow get their chance to shine a little bit early today. Good things are coming for the Yankees this season. As fans, we need to support our players and help them get back playing the game they love. The World Series isn’t off the table, this will be a great year!
